Myers Weekly Prayer Letter - September 28

THE MYERS ARE NOW STATESIDE!!
After approximately 25 hours in transit, we finally arrived in Louisville, Kentucky at 1:15pm Friday. We were so glad to be on the ground instead of the air and have enjoyed getting adjusted to stateside again. The weather has been wonderful and I personally look forward to the beginning of fall weather and temperatures as well as the changing color of the leaves.

Stateside address:
Wayne and Barbara Myers
977 Hebron Road
Shelbyville, Ky. 40065
Phone: (502) 633-2936

We attended worship service this morning with my mom at the Dover Baptist Church (in Shelby Country, Ky). Dover has a special place in our hearts since Wayne was music and youth director in the late 70s. We have enjoyed a strong support and affirmation from the congregation especially since we arrived in Swaziland.

--Tonight we have the special honor of attending and sharing with the church my brother began in the Louisville area, Rodeo Cowboy Church. This church is trying to reach out to those involved in the “horse” community. My brother has a special prayer request:
The Rodeo Cowboy Church got off to a great start Sunday, September 20th. We had 21 people gathered to worship and celebrate what God is doing among the rodeo/horse community. Most are planning to return this Sunday (27th). Continue to pray for the churches considering being sponsor churches. I have talked with one church in the Long Run Association and one church in the Nelson Association. Pray that those attending will see Rodeo Cowboy Church as a body of believers and not just a worship service. Pray also for the membership development process. Continue to pray that men and women will turn their lives over to Jesus Christ. Thank you for your willingness to pray for the Rodeo Cowboy Church.

A WONDERFUL ANSWER TO PRAYER!! J
We asked you to pray for a vehicle for us to drive while stateside and I am very happy to share that prayer request has been answered. We received an email from a couple who were involved in the Orchard Drive Baptist Church (Hammond, Indiana) while Wayne was the pastor. They have since been transferred to the St. Louis, Missouri area and offered us the use of one of their vehicles. St. Louis is about 5 ½ hours from our home and after our return from our Stateside Conference next week, we (along with my mom) will travel to St. Louis and spend a couple of days with our friends. Thank you for your faithfulness to pray for this need. The Lord has truly blessed us.

--Please pray for Lisiwe Sibandze (pastor of the Velebantfu Baptist Church) and Phumzile Dlamini (Phuzmoya Baptist Church) scheduled to be united in marriage on the 10th of October at the Phuzumoya Baptist Church. Pray this couple will be a wonderful Christian witness for others who are planning to marry. Pray many Swazis will understand God’s plan for marriage.

SPECIAL PRAYER REQUESTS:
-September 29-October 16, Monica and Lacie Allen will be in the states attending Monica’s cousin’s wedding and sharing a time of fellowship with family. Lacie is one of the flower girls in the wedding. Pray Monica and Lacie will have a wonderful visit to the states and visit with family. Pray for Steve and Nathan who will remain in Swaziland.

- Please continue to pray for Steven Allens’ complete recovery from the removal of a kidney stone on the 16th of September. Steve has four kidney stones detected so please pray he will be able to pass these without difficulty.

--Please continue to pray for Sarah Warren as she deals with blurry vision in her right eye. She is scheduled for a follow-up on the 12th of October.

Please continue to pray for direction on employment/ministry opportunities for Bert and Lisa Warren. Pray for Lisa’s parents as they adjust to moving into the Warren’s home and for her father’s continued improvement and rehabilitation.

MEDICAL PRAYER REQUESTS:
-For my niece’s husband’s mother who has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. A feeding tube has been placed. Pray for the Lord’s strength and courage during this difficult time.
-For Kerry Harp who continues to recover from a motorcycle accident last year. Pray the Lord will wrap his loving arms around him and Kerry will feel His presence especially on days when he feels depressed.

SPECIAL MYERS FAMILY GATHERING:
In May Wayne’s brother Larry, passed away from a massive heart attack. In June his oldest sister JoAnn died after a battle with lung cancer. On the 10th of October the family has a scheduled a memorial service for these two siblings. Please pray for the family as they gather for a time of remembering Larry and JoAnn. Pray there will be a sense of closure.

--Pray also for Terry Myers who has been dealing with stage 4 cancer since September 2008. Pray the cancer will continue to be in remission.

Lifestyle That Leads to an Early Death
How does one help others understand the lifestyle they have chosen to live may lead to an early death? How does one explain the teachings of their (Swazi) homes may help a whole generation die young? How can it be explained that God’s way is for one man and one woman in marriage each faithful to the other before and after marriage when the Swazi way is for a man to have many wives and girlfriends throughout adolescent and adult life? To have sex is to be a man!! What can be done to help alleviate rape and abuse of Swazi children that also lead to early deaths? What will lead Swazis to understand the devastation of AIDS an impure lifestyle? Pray the Swazis will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and will have eternal life. Pray for true revival to take place in their hearts enabling them to experience life not death.

A price was given for the printing of the prayer booklet, “So That Christ Might Dwell in Their Hears.” We are waiting to hear concerning possible funding of this project. Please pray an affirmative answer will soon be given and the printing of this booklet can take place. Pray also the prayer booklet will be in the hands of many prayer warriors for the Swazi people.

IMB OFFICE OF GLOBAL PRAYER STRATEGY:
This week the final Stateside Assignment Conference uniting 255 adults and 143 children, September 28-October 3 takes place. Pray that this will be a restful and refreshing time for them. Ask the Lord to remind His servants of His ever-present love and care. Pray that those struggling with decisions or direction will know much peace and comfort. Thank our Father for our brothers and sisters as they minister around the world.
--Wayne and I leave tomorrow to attend this Stateside Conference and would appreciate your prayers as we fellowship with other IMB missionaries around the world.
