Myers Weekly Letter

Last week I forgot to wish a very special person a Happy Birthday. Lacie Allen’s birthday was on the 17th of June!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LACIE!!
The Allen family will move this week (25th of June) from North Carolina to West Palm Beach, Florida for the last three months of their stateside time. Pray this move and transition time will go smoothly.

This week was much calmer and normal than the previous week. No sad stories or unexpected occurrences. We did meet with the Luwhhawhheni Baptist Church on Friday. I was able to also meet with a few children that arrived and encouraged them to invite their friends next week. Please pray for the Luwhhawhheni Baptist Church as follow-up continues and the church strives to reach the community for the Lord.

-Tomorrow evening (Tuesday) the Myers will host the pastors (and families) of the Vuvulane, Luwhhawhheni and Mafucula Baptist Churches to our home for dinner and time of planning. Pray this time will be special and very beneficial as ministries are discussed and plans made. 

REVISED TIME OF EVENT 
(On the Swazi team prayer calendar June 19th is the date set for meeting of pastors/leaders of the churches in the Shiselweni region .) This has changed and Wayne is meeting with the newly elected officers of the Baptist Convention of Swaziland this Saturday morning (26th of June) and Saturday afternoon he will meet with pastors and lay leaders of the Shiselweni Baptist churches to discuss plans for training events. A major training event on July 22-24 is in the planning stages. Pray these meetings will be well attended with much accomplished. Pray for the training event in July as planning continues.
Sunday Wayne will be visiting with the Maloma Baptist Church. Pray his time with the Maloma Baptist Church will be uplifting and encouraging.

Next Monday June Mason (retired missionary) will arrive in Swaziland to lead Bible studies with the Swazi Baptist women of the Lubumbo and Shiselweni regions. Tuesday she will share with the ladies of the South Lubumbo region at the Phuzumoya Baptist Church, Wednesday we will travel to the Thunzini Baptist Church and meet with the Shiselweni group and Thursday Vuvulane Baptist Church will host the Bible study with the ladies of the North Lubumbo Swazi Baptist churches. We look forward to this time with June and the ladies of these two regions. Pray this time of Bible study will be an encouragement. Pray for June as the Lord prepares her for this very special ministry.

***Answer to the Do You Know question:
Baker James Cauthen, 1954-1979.

---In spite of the weakened economy and sluggish recovery, Southern Baptist gave $148.9 million in 2009 to support international missionaries. It was the third largest Lottie Moon offering in history. Thank You!!
Continue to remember Wayne’s sister Patsy suffering from COPD and on oxygen. -Pray also Wayne’s brother (Terry). Pray his quarterly tests will continue to show his cancer is in remission. -Pray Barbara’s brother-in-law, Gary Rutledge will soon be able to move around unassisted (herniated disc surgery in November) and for Barbara’s nephew-in-law’s mother diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

PRAY FOR OUR MILITARY:
Persistent problems with the Taliban and insurgents around Marja and Kandahar are reinforcing doubts that the plan to begin pulling out of Afghanistan by July 2011 are viable. White House reevaluation is set for December.
Pray for the safety of our military men and women in Afghanistan, Iraq and other trouble spots.

WORLD CUP IN SOUTH AFRICA
June 11-July 11, 2010
Each week I will be sharing prayer requests for one of the 32 countries participating in the World Cup (Soccer). This week’s Country Focus is NEW ZEALAND:
-Pray for wisdom for those in the New Zealand church, to know how to reach out to young people who are caught up on the post-modern generation.
-The recent revival in Maori culture is changing New Zealand society. Pray that there would be a new generation of strong Christian Maori leaders.
-The missions vision of the New Zealand Church is an example to many other lands, but has faltered in recent years. New Zealand is ranked in fourth in the world for missionaries sent out per head of Christian population. Pray for this missons vision to be nurtured by pastors and embraced by whole congregations.
(Information from The Ultimate Goal (TUG) a project of SASCOL and is the outreach initiative taking place during June and July 2010. TUG is a network of local and international churches, para-church organizations and ministries all working together on one common goal: to bring hope and change to South Africa.)

****Can you help us?? Since moving to Tshaneni our email capabilities are limited in part due to the fact we both use a modem from our cell phones. We are not able to access large files (anything over 500km is a problem) and therefore ask that you do not send large files to us. It takes forever to download (if we can at all), we pay for every second we are on line and large files hinder us from receiving our other messages. Thank you!!
