August Prayer Calendar

Sunday August 1: Pray for Sarah Warren today on her birthday!!
Pray the Allen family will soon receive their medical clearance so they can return to Swaziland as scheduled. They are down to their last few documents needed. Pray nothing will “pop” up in any test result that will delay their return to Swaziland. They plan to return to Swaziland on the 26th of September.

Monday August 2: Todd and Deborah Hoskins (2 year missionaries) began their orientation time at the International Learning Center on the 26th of July. Pray for Todd and Deborah as they continue to prepare for this time of training in preparation for their work and ministry in Swaziland. The Hoskins will arrive in Swaziland on the 7th of October and will work in Manzini as church planters and will also develop training schools throughout Swaziland.

Tuesday August 3: Pray Al and Belinda Jordans’ remaining time in Swaziland (end of September) will be devoid of unexpected surprises that hide the joy and blessings the Lord provides. Pray the last two months will be full of thanksgiving!

Wednesday August 4: Abiding in Christ was the theme of the Bible studies for the Swazi Baptist ladies (Lubumbo and Shiselweni regions) led by retired missionary June Mason June 29-July 1. Approximately 100 ladies and two pastors attended the three sessions. Please continue to pray the Swazi Baptist women will find true hope in following and depending upon the Lord. The National Swazi Baptist Ladies’ Retreat is scheduled for October 14-16. “I Will Cry Unto the Lord” is the theme. Please pray the Swazi Baptist Women will make preparations to attend this annual event.

Thursday August 5: Last month the Phuzumoya Baptist Church conducted a time of recognition for those called (Lubumbo region) to be a pastor or lay leader. Most of these men had at one time been members of the Phuzumoya Baptist Church or were influenced by the training provided by the church and Pastor Mandla Sigwane. Praise the Lord for these men faithfully serving the Lord. Pray each of these men will continue to be faithful to the Lord in service and commitment. Pray through these ministries many Swazis will come to know the Lord as their Savior and Lord.

Friday August 6: Continue to remember Wayne Myers’ sister suffering from COPD and on oxygen and for his brother with stage 4 cancer. Pray quarterly tests will continue to show his cancer in remission. Pray Barbara’s brother-in-law will continue to show signs of recovery from his herniated disc surgery and for her nephew-in-law’s mother diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Saturday August 7: The executive committee of the Swaziland Baptist Convention meets today. New officers were elected a few months ago and training was conducted in June. Continue to pray each will learn his or her new job description and commit to furthering Baptist work in Swaziland.

Sunday August 8: Continue to pray for Hawane and Lesibovu Baptist Churches as both congregations strive to reach their goals needed for the construction of their church structures. Pray weekly giving toward these projects will allow construction to soon begin.

Monday August 9: From the Jordans: “We have been saddened as we go to these little struggling churches that once were thriving. We look around and notice the leadership once there is now missing whether it is the pastor or other church leaders. Several of the churches are in desperate need of God called pastors. Please pray for God to work in the hearts of Godly men who would answer the call to be pastors.” Continue to pray for the leadership of our Baptist churches and for high integrity in their lives as they make decisions that affect their lives, families, churches and communities.

Tuesday August 10: Pray the strongholds that keep the King of Swaziland, his wives and children from accepting Jesus as their Savior will be broken. Pray each will have a chance to hear and understand what it means to be a Christian.

Wednesday August 11: After worship service at the Vuvulane Baptist Church, the congregation visited a lady who had just lost her daughter to “some sickness.” Upon arriving to the homestead, two small children fixed their eyes on the group as they walked to meet with the mother. Pray for this mother’s loss of her daughter and the small children left without a mother. Pray the Swazi people will understand their lifestyles are causing premature deaths and by living as our Savior showed us we don’t have to die.

Thursday August 12: One of the Swazi Baptist pastors voiced his concern over the Muslims recently receiving approval to eat KFC. KFC had to adhere to particular ways of preparing the chicken so Allah could be blessed. This has angered a few Swazis to the point they refuse to buy KFC. Pray more Christians in Swaziland will take a stand against the Muslim “invasion” of Swaziland and will seek to witness to their lost friends, family and neighbors.

Friday August 13: Continue to pray for Lacie Allen to do well on the entrance exam she will take to enroll in the Sifundzani Primary School (when she starts first grade in January) upon the Allens’ return to Swaziland the end of September.

Saturday August 14: What missionary worked for 40 years in China literally giving her life to her work? Lottie Moon, famous for her desperate appeal in 1888 for more missionaries (resulting in the annual Lottie Moon Christmas Offering). Funds were so scarce Lottie once spent 14 continuous years on the mission field. Thank you for giving to the 2009 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Pray for the faithfulness of Southern Baptist churches to give to the 2010 LMCO so missionaries can be sent to many lost and dying people and nations.

Sunday August 15: Pray for Deborah Hoskins today on her birthday.
The Hoskins will attend the on-field orientation 40/40 October 21-November 19 in Burkina Faso (West Africa). 40/40 is an intensive time of learning to live in Africa as well as develop relationships with the African people. Begin praying for Todd and Deborah’s preparation in this training and for many blessings to occur!!

Monday August 16: Today the North Lubumbo Children’s Camp begins at the Mafucula Primary School August 16-18. Theme: “Let’s Talk To God.” The agenda includes praying, stories on Christ, Daniel and Hannah, learning the books of the Bible, coloring, laughter and fun. This is the first camp in this area. Pray everything will go well for workers, teachers and campers. Pray lives will be touched and each Swazi Baptist church in the North Lubumbo region will desire to have a strong children’s program.

Wednesday August 18: Today the Allen family is sharing with the Florida Gardens Baptist Church at their Wednesday evening service. Pray God will show them what to share about Swaziland and how God is working in and through the Swazi people. Continue to pray for times of speaking for the Allens and sharing in churches, Bible study groups and small groups about Swaziland over the next two months.

Thursday August 19: Please continue to pray for IMB’s Presidential Search Committee as they seek God’s man to lead our organization.

Friday August 20: Pray people will not be silent concerning the cause of AIDS and the need for Christ to help change lives. Pray people will have the courage to speak honestly about AIDS and why God wants our behavior to reflect His guidance.

Saturday August 21: The Allen family hopes to begin crating this month in preparation for their return to Swaziland next month. Pray for joys in their hearts as they look forward to all God has planned for their lives, family and ministry over the next couple of years serving with the Swazi people. Because of Lacie beginning first grade in 2011, the family may begin taking stateside assignments every two years.
Pray also for the family as they plan a holiday at the end of this month. Pray for rest, renewal, special memories for the children and great family time.

Sunday August 22: Pray those of the African Traditional Religion/Zionism will come to a true understanding of their need for a personal relationship with Jesus and will be able to separate themselves from the pagan practices of traditional religion.

Monday August 23: SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA UNENGAGED PEOPLES: The Khassonke of Mali population is approximately 170,000. Only .5 percent is Christian. Ask the Lord to send out laborers from among the Malian believers to go to uncomfortable places for the eternal comfort of these He is calling. Pray for the salvation of the Khassonke.

Tuesday August 24: Today is Polly Trice’s (Monica Allen’s mother) birthday and a special time for the Allen family to celebrate with mom/gogo (grandmother) Polly in person. Pray for this special day!!

Wednesday August 25: Pray for Kym Pennington, the new True Love Waits International consultant as she prepares to make her first trip to Swaziland this month during the National Youth Retreat. Pray this will be the beginning of a wonderful working relationship between Kym, the Swazis and the Swazi Team.

Thursday August 26: Please pray for the National Youth Camp August 26-29. Pray the youth attending will meet God there and not just their friends. Pray for salvation for those who do not know Jesus as Savior and pray for spiritual growth for those who have accepted Him. Pray for the team from the First Baptist Church, Belton, Texas; Grant and Jenna, Brett, Courtney and Daphne. Pray for Al and Belinda Jordan as they host the team and get them to the camp venue each day.

Saturday August 28: The youth retreat of the New Hope and Mgamudze Baptist Churches for the weekend of July 23-24 was postponed due to the lack of planning and very busy schedules. The group is looking at the end of September for rescheduling of this event. Pray planning can begin and the youth of the two churches will commit to fellowshipping and working together to develop strong youth groups in their churches.

Sunday August 29: Pray the Lord will burden the hearts of the Swazi church leaders to develop strong prayer relationships with Him. Pray prayer will be an important ministry in every Swazi Baptist church.

Monday August 30: The Shiselweni Children’s Camp begins today (Aug. 30-Sept. 1) at the New Hope Baptist Church. Please pray each child attending will experience a new awakening of Christ’s love in his/her life.

Tuesday August 31: Volunteer teams are preparing for a time of work and ministry in Swaziland in 2011. Pray as these groups meet and plan for their time working with the Swazi Team and Swazi people. May 2011 be a wonderful year of volunteers committing to join the Lord’s work in Swaziland.

Thank you for giving to the 2009 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Pray for the faithfulness of Southern Baptist churches to give to the 2010 LMCO so missionaries can be sent to many lost and dying people and nations.

--Please continue to pray for IMB’s Presidential Search Committee as they seek God’s man to lead our organization.

This week’s country focus: JAPAN
-Pray that God would create more responsiveness in the hearts of the Japanese, particularly the very traditional older people, to the Gospel. Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring revelation of God and conviction of sin to the nation.
-Pray for the struggles of the church in Japan. There is a lack of clear Bible teaching, with many converts to Christianity still operating under the worldviews and superstitions they were raised in. Pray for the church to grow in maturity and wisdom.
-Pray for missionaries serving in Japan who become discouraged, and for more missionaries to be sent out to join them.

PRAYER IS THE SOUL’S SINCERE DESIRE
Prayer is the soul’s sincere desire,
unuttered or expressed,
the motion of a hidden fire
that trembles in the breast.
Prayer is the burden of a sigh,
the falling of a tear,
the upward glancing of an eye,
when none but God is near.
Prayer is the simplest form of speech
that infant lips can try;
prayer the sublimest stains that reach
the Majesty on high.
Prayer is the contrite sinners’ voice,
returning from their way,
while angels in their songs rejoice
and cry, “Behold, they pray!”
Prayer is the Christians’ vital breath,
the Christians’ native air;
their watchward at the gates of death;
they enter heaven with prayer.
0 thou, by whom we come to God,
the Life, the Truth, the Way;
the path of prayer thyself hast trod;
Lord, teach us how to pray!
--James Montgomery

I call on you, O God, for you will answer me;
Give ear to me and hear my prayer. Psalm 17:6

Swaziland News from the Jordans

The World Cup has come and gone in South Africa and it has been deemed a huge success! The World Cup had never been held in Africa and this was a proud continent during the month. Great unity has come from this undertaking and the witness for Christ was enormous. Praise the Lord!

A report indicated that the fears of what would happen with youth being exploited and sex workers being brought in by the masses did not come to pass. One worker in that trade said that World Cup fans had indicated, “we are here for soccer not for sex.” Praise God!

We have to admit we got in on the excitement as we watched endless hours of the games, even bought a vuvusela. We were proud the USA went on to be in the final 16 but sorry they didn’t go further. However, if they had to get beat we were glad it was by an African team. As much as we wanted Ghana to win, they just couldn’t pull it off. Now we are having World Cup withdrawals. They called it PCD (Post Cup Depression). By the way, we just heard that this World Cup was the safest ever, which is amazing for South Africa. God’s people prayed and He answered.

This past Saturday I (Belinda) had a reunion for the pastors’ wives’ fellowship started back in 2001. It was so good having these women together again to renew friendships, visit, pray and eat. (see picture) Some of the husbands of this group are no longer pastors, which is a real prayer concern.

Speaking of the previously mentioned prayer concern, we have been saddened as we go to the little struggling churches that were once thriving. We look around and notice the leadership once there is now missing whether it is a pastor or other church leaders. Several of the churches are in desperate need of God called pastors. In the past, pastors have been appointed one way or the other. Of course, that never works. Please pray for God to work in the hearts of godly men who would answer the call to be pastors.

Please continue praying for the National Youth Camp beginning in less than six weeks. Pray for youth who come to meet God and not just their friends. Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of those who haven’t accepted Christ. Pray for those who have accepted Him to grow spiritually. Pray for our team from First Baptist Belton (Grant, Jenna, Brett, Courtney and Daphne) as they make preparations physically and spiritually. Also pray for Swaziland’s new True Love Waits representative, Kym Pennington. She will be here before and during camp.

I (Al) must tell you my experience of going to a rural church Sunday over the worse roads ever. I know we have told you about the roads here before but I just thought other roads were bad. Actually, I think I might have lost a few pounds since I was bounced around so much. (the picture attached doesn’t do the road justice) After finally making it to the church site and running a little late we noticed no one was there. Then I found that the chief had called a meeting of the people in the area to elect a new representative to parliament. Since there was another one of our churches in close proximity I decided to go there. A few youth had gathered with two Adult women. One of the youth tried, and I do mean tried, to play a keyboard and it was just horrible. I prayed the Lord would help me worship in spite of what I was hearing. The Swazi people sing very well without accompaniment. I think maybe even God had His ears plugged this morning listening to the keyboard. Of course I was expected to preach and had a youth from another church interpreting for me. Several times she had to ask, “what did you say?” and looked to others for help in interpreting a word or phrase. I had to remind myself that God’s word does not return void even in the midst of seeming chaos. I do need to give the young lady credit though since she has just started trying to interpret. Needless to say, I was exhausted when I got home. Most of our experiences are positive but I thought you would appreciate hearing this story so you would know to especially pray for us on the weekends as we go to the different churches for worship and/or Bible study.

Thank you for hanging with us in prayer during these six months. We appreciate you more than you’ll ever know.

Al and Belinda

Myers Weekly Prayer Letter

This morning Wayne left the house early and headed for Manzini and the site of the 2010 National Youth Camp to meet the Headmaster and discuss plans for conducting the camp at the school during school break. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the National Youth Camp.
Please pray for the National Youth Camp August 26-29.

--Saturday morning (17th of July) Wayne met with Pastor Nkosingiphile Dlamini of the Thunzini Baptist Church and moderator/chairman of the Shiselweni Baptist Association to discuss the association’s meeting on the 31st of July. It has been a while since the association has met and there was much to organize. Pray for Nkosingiphile as he organizes this meeting at the Velebantfu Baptist Church. Pray as the churches come together to plan and fellowship there will be a sense of unity and harmony.
The youth retreat scheduled for this weekend (23-24 of July) was also discussed since Nkosingiphile has been asked to help. Because of the lack of planning and very busy schedules, the youth retreat for Mgamudze and New Hope Baptist will be postponed until later in the year.

--Tomorrow (Tuesday) night we will host the pastors of the four Baptist churches in the northeast section of Swaziland (and families) to discuss the upcoming Swazi Baptist Children’s Camp August 16-18 at the Mafucula High School. This is an entirely new venture for these churches and to insure the camp runs smoothly there are a few points that need to be discussed. One is the age of the campers that are invited to come-6 to 11 years. It is hard for churches to understand that a child 14 years old is a youth even though he is still attending grade school. They look at the children’s schooling instead of age. In the past we have encountered problems when youth and children have been mixed in the camp setting. Also the church does not always take the lead in informing their church of the age limit and allow the camper to come with the expectation that either we will allow him/her to stay or send the camper home. Pray the meeting will go well and the pastors will understand what is required of the church in sending their children to the camp. Pray this year’s camp will be free of problems that cause discouragement for the workers, teachers and those organizing the camp.
This year’s camp theme is “Let Us Talk To God. The second camp will be conducted at the New Hope Baptist Church for the Shiselweni Baptist churches.

Happy Birthday to Belinda Jordan on the 23rd of July. Pray her special day will indeed be special!!
Pray Al and Belinda’s remaining time in Swaziland (end of September) will be devoid of unexpected surprises that hide the joy and blessings the Lord provides. Pray the last two months will be full of thanksgiving!
The Myers and Jordans are taking a little holiday to Kruger National Game Reserve July 26-28. Pray we will have a great time!!

Pray that all the members of the Allen family will get their final medical clearances from the mission board in a timely manner so they will not be delayed leaving the states around the 24th of September.

--On the 26th of July Todd and Deborah Hoskins will begin their time of training at the International Learning Center in Rockville, Va. Pray for Todd and Deborah as they prepare for this time of training in preparation for their work and ministry in Swaziland.
The Hoskins are scheduled to arrive in Swaziland around the 7th of October. Their job description includes church planting in the Manzini region and developing rural training schools throughout Swaziland.

--July 29-31, the Phuzumoya Baptist Church is sponsoring a “Women’s Gathering.” Pray this will be a fun and enjoyable time for those who attend.
--The Vuvulane Baptist Church has scheduled a baptism service (tentatively scheduled) for the 8th of August. Pray for those who will be baptized and for the church to reach the lost in its community. A young lady came forward to accept Christ as her Savior yesterday (18th of July). Pray this one will understand what it means to be a Christian.

Lottie Moon, who is most famous for her desperate appeal in 1888 for more missionaries (resulting in the annual Lottie Moon Christmas Offering). Funds were so scarce that Lottie once spent 14 continuous years on the mission field. She starved with the Chinese and died on Christmas Eve 1912.
Thank you for giving to the 2009 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. We praise the Father for your faithfulness to give so that missionaries can be sent to evangelize many lost and dying people and nations.

This week’s country focus: SOUTH KOREA
-Pray for the nation of South Korea in the face of continued threats of aggression from North Korea. Pray for wisdom for the nation’s leaders to be sensitive in their relations so as not to cause war, but also not to condone the human right abuses that North Korea are practicing.
--Pray for more than 10,000 missionaries sent out from South Korea. Pray for the continued mobilization of young people for missions, and the cultural adaptation of South Korean missionaries, who come from a very homogenous society, to very different regions of the world.

****Can you help us?? Moving to Tshaneni has limited our email capabilities. We are not able to access large files (anything over 500km is a problem) and therefore ask that you do not send large files to us. It takes forever to download (if we can at all), we pay for every second we are on line and large files hinder us from receiving our other messages. Thank you!!

Saturday the Phuzumoya Baptist Church conducted a time of recognition for those called (Lubumbo region) to be a pastor or lay leader. Most of these men had at one time been members of the Phuzumoya Baptist Church or were influenced by the training provided by the church and Pastor Mandla Sigwane. At various times during the program church members from the various churches addressed the church to show support for their pastor and further confirm his calling. Wayne attended the meeting and gave words of encouragement to the churches and pastors. Praise for the Lord for these men faithfully serving the Lord. Pray each one of these men will continue to be faithful to the Lord in service and commitment. Pray through their ministries many Swazis will come to know the Lord as their Savior and Lord.

--July 16, friends of Todd and Deborah Hoskins (2-year missionaries to Swaziland) are giving them a farewell party. Pray this will be a time of encouragement and joy!

The 2010 camps’ theme is “Let Us Talk to God.” The first camp is August 16-19 at the Mafucala Secondary School and the second camp will meet at the New Hope Baptist Church (Shiselweni region) on August 30-September 1. Please pray Swazi Baptist churches in these two areas will send their children to these two camps. Pray each child attending will experience a new awakening of Christ’s love in his/her life.

Pray those who attend will leave feeling the presence of the Savior and will daily strive to seek His face. Pray for Grant and Jenna, Brett, Courney and Daphne as they prepare for this awesome ministry.

--We have been asked concerning our two dogs, so I thought I would give you an update. Our Noel who was diagnosed with bone cancer (month ago) is still with us. She is still eating and getting around on three legs. We hope we can keep her with us until her death. I have a special place in our yard picked for her resting place. Our Bubba seems to have recovered from his stoke-like episode and is back to being his funny self. This has been a bad year for fleas and I have attempted to give him a bath these past three Saturdays. He is a big boy (small pony) and I am sure we are a funny sight during our bathing time.

AIDS UPDATE:
After the worship service yesterday at Vuvulane, the church visited a lady who had just lost her daughter. Upon arriving on the homestead, two small children fixed their eyes on us as we walked to the room where we were to meet. They didn’t say a word but just watched us walk away. As we entered the room we began to sing. Singing followed with a prayer (on our knees) and then a sermon by the pastor of the Vuvulane Baptist Church. As we were leaving it was explained to us that the lady’s daughter died of “some sickness” and the grandmother was left with her small children and the children were left without a mother, an all too common occurrence in Swaziland. Pray for this family as they grieve the loss of their loved one. Pray the Swazi people will understand their lifestyles are causing premature deaths and by living as our Savior shows us we don’t have to die.

***Answer to the Do You Know question:
The slavery controversy. The Triennial Convention refused to appoint slaveholders as missionaries. Seeing this as an infraction of the convention constitution, the southern states formed the Southern Baptist Convention.

---In spite of the weakened economy and sluggish recovery, Southern Baptist gave $148.9 million in 2009 to support international missionaries. It was the third largest Lottie Moon offering in history. Thank You!!

Pray his quarterly tests will continue to show his cancer is in remission. -Pray Barbara’s brother-in-law, Gary Rutledge will soon be able to move around unassisted (herniated disc surgery in November) and for Barbara’s nephew-in-law’s mother diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease

The World Cup is now history and Spain is the victor. Since the prayer letter has already focused Spain for prayer, we will focus this week on the runner-up NETHERLANDS:
-Pray for revival that restores the nation spiritually. The Netherlands has a glorious history as a Christian nation. It fought for religious freedom, ministered to refugees and Jews and has a record of extensive involvement in missions to other lands. Now, Dutch people seem to have forgotten this heritage. Pray for a return to the good things of the past. Pray also that the Dutch government might be influenced for the good.
-Pray for ministry to young people in this nation where many people are alienated from the gospel. Christianity is seen as irrelevant, and yet many young people are still searching for answers to life. Pray for youth to take a step for faith, and seek the truth that can only be found in Jesus.

Myers Weekly Prayer Letter

Yesterday the Swazi Team celebrated the 4th of July. The Jordans and the Myers enjoyed wonderful (winter) weather as we grilled and picnicked outside. We also invited another American friend that lives in Tshaneni to join us. What a wonderful day of celebration!
We also celebrate and are thankful for each of you who support us through prayer!! We so appreciate you!!
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. I Cor. 13:14

Abiding in Christ was the theme of the Bible studies for the Swazi Baptist ladies (Lubumbo and Shiselweni regions) led by retired missionary June Mason June 29-July 1. Approximately 100 ladies and two pastors attended. Everyone listened as the Word was taught and requested to hear more even when there was no more time. Praise the Lord for the time June spent with these ladies. Please continue to pray the Swazi Baptist women will find true hope in following and depending upon the Lord for their families’ needs. The National Swazi Baptist Ladies’ Retreat is scheduled for October 14-16. “I Will Cry Unto the Lord” is the theme. Please pray the Swazi Baptist women will make preparations to attend this annual event.

WORLD CUP IN SOUTH AFRICA
June 11-July 11, 2010
This is the last week of the World Cup. There were 32 countries participating and we have focused on a few of these. We will continue until all 32 countries have been the focus for prayer support.
This week’s Country Focus is NORTH KOREA:
-Pray for the safety of North Korean Christians and that they would remain faithful to the Lord under immense pressure. Pray for boldness to share their faith.
-Pray also for Christians in prison camps, they would be able to endure suffering, and forgive those who have hurt them.
-Pray for Christians in China and South Korea who strategically find ways of smuggling the gospel into North Korea, as well as helping North Korean Christians to escape oppression.

I will not doubt, though all my ships at sea
come drifting home with broken masts and sails;
I shall believe the hand which never fails,
from seeming evil worketh good to me.
And, though I weep because those sails are battered,
still will I cry, while my best hopes lie shattered,
“I trust in thee.”

Myers Weekly Prayer Letter

Every morning as we offer up prayer to God, let us also be careful to watch for Him to respond. It is only as we are looking that we can see and celebrate when God does His part—the answering, the blessing, the changing! (Elizabeth George)

Thank you for praying for this week’s events.
--The dinner meeting with the pastors /wives on Tuesday went very well. Wayne was able to discuss the importance of planning in furthering the work in northeast Swaziland. Please pray for this group as planning meetings are now on the calendar and will be an important tool to reaching the many lost in Vuvulane, Mafucalu and Luwhhawhheni for the Lord.

--Wayne met with the new officers of the Baptist Convention of Swaziland yesterday morning for encouragement and guidance on conducting the Convention meetings. Hopefully in the future old and new business will be handled correctly with a more effective Convention.
Saturday July 3, the Executive Committee of the Baptist Convention of Swaziland will meet at the Manzini Baptist Church. Pray for this meeting. Pray also for the new leadership to work towards uniting all the Swazi Baptist churches in ministry and compassion.
--Meeting with pastors of the Shiselweni region Saturday afternoon mainly discussed the agenda for the training event planned for next month. Please pray these leaders and pastors will stay strong in the Lord. We were saddened to hear that one of the leaders of our churches had been helping himself to part of the church offerings. This leader is young and in some ways immature and the need for money overtook the need to do was right in the eyes of the Lord.

***Did you know???
When and where did the Southern Baptist Convention organize and what was its single purpose?
Last Sunday three ladies stood before the Vuvulane Baptist Church to say the books of the Bible. For these ladies (2 mothers and 1 grandmother) it was an exciting accomplishment. Pray members of our Swazi Baptist churches will see the need to learn the books of the Bible and will encourage their children and grandchildren to do the same!

Tomorrow June Mason (retired missionary) will arrive in Swaziland to lead Bible studies with the Swazi Baptist women of the Lubumbo and Shiselweni regions. Tuesday she will share with the ladies of the South Lubumbo region at the Phuzumoya Baptist Church, Wednesday we will travel to the Thunzini Baptist Church and meet with the Shiselweni group and Thursday Vuvulane Baptist Church will host the Bible study with the ladies of the North Lubumbo Swazi Baptist churches. We look forward to this time with June and the ladies of these two regions. Pray this time of Bible study will be an encouragement. Pray for June as the Lord prepares her for this very special ministry.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THESE FUTURE EVENTS
-A major training event is scheduled for July 23-24 for pastors and lay leaders of the Shiselweni and Lubumbo regions. Gathering together for a time of learning and fellowship is always encouraging for these leaders. Pray the Lord will be glorified through the Biblical teachings to these special called Swazis.

--July 31st, the Shiselweni Association will meet at the Velebantfu Baptist Church. Pray as the churches come together to plan and fellowship. Pray for a sense of unity and harmony.
their work in the Manzini region and develop rural training schools.

---October 7th, Todd and Deborah Hoskins (2 year missionaries) arrive in Swaziland to begin their work in the Manzini region as well as develop rural training schools. Pray for Todd and Deborah as they prepare to come and minister with the Swazi Team.

***Answer to the Do You Know question:
May 1845, First Baptist Church, Augusta Ga.; to promote foreign and home mission. The preamble speaks of ‘…carrying into effect the benevolent intentions of our constituents, by organizing a plan for eliciting, combining and directing the energies of the whole denomination in one sacred effort for the propagation of the Gospel.”

---In spite of the weakened economy and sluggish recovery, Southern Baptist gave $148.9 million in 2009 to support international missionaries. It was the third largest Lottie Moon offering in history. Thank You!!

In the past I have asked you to pray for the Tfwalas. We first met the Tfwalas at the Velebantfu Baptist Church after he asked us to come and help with Bible studies and training. Over the years the Tfwalas have experienced difficulties in their marriage and have separated on several occasions. In April they reunited. Johannes phoned Wayne last week to say that his wife Lindiwe attempted suicide and is now in counseling. Please pray for Lindiwe to overcome her emotional difficulties. Pray she will cry out to the Lord for His guiding hand. Pray for the Tfwala family as they continue to struggle.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY ON THE 4TH OF JULY!!
On the 5th of July the Swazi Team will celebrate the 4th of July at Tshaneni!! Pray for a great day of celebration.

WORLD CUP IN SOUTH AFRICA
June 11-July 11, 2010
Each week I will be sharing prayer requests for one of the 32 countries participating in the World Cup (Soccer). This week’s Country Focus is AUSTRALIA:
-There is widespread interest in spirituality in Australia, but people are not turning to churches to explore it. Church attendance has declined steadily over the last few decades. Pray for revival in Australia-something that has never happened before.
-Pray for migrant people in Australia. More than a quarter of Australians were born in other countries. Oftentimes immigrants feel very isolated from the much promoted “Australia way of life”, and whilst there is access to the gospel in Australia, few migrants make themselves a part of the wider community of faith. Pray for more immigrant people to feel included in the Christian community, and to build bridges between different cultures in the Australian “Melting pot.”
