Myers Weekly Prayer Letter - May 18, 2009

Choose the one thing, the necessary thing, each day: Choose with your whole heart to live every day for God. Love Him, worship Him, walk with Him, serve Him, and look forward to being with Him in eternity. –Elizabeth George

We rejoice with the Maloma Baptist Church today!! The church completed its two week revival on Friday night. The spirit was good throughout the services and a few youth from other Shiselweni region Baptist churches helped with evangelism during the day as well as assisting with the services each night. There were decisions made and we ask you to pray for true revival in the heart of the church and community. Pray those who made decisions will truly know what it means to follow Jesus Christ with all their heart, mind and soul.
-This evening revival services begin at the Ntuthwakazi Baptist Church May 18-21 (Mon-Thur). Pray for the one preaching and for the church to be spiritually prepared for this time of revival.

Attention!! Please pray for a special time of teaching on Friday May 22nd at the Manzini Baptist Church. Missionaries Steven Allen and Wayne Myers will lead this time. Steven will teach about a “Biblical Response to the Prosperity Gospel” and Wayne on a “Biblical Response to Speaking in Tongues.” Pray many from our Swazi Baptist churches will attend and for Steve and Wayne as they continue to prepare to teach on these important doctrinal subjects.

May 29-30 is the National Youth Committee’s planning retreat in Mbabane. Pray for our NYC as they meet to finalize plans for the National Youth Leaders Retreat, National Youth Camp in August and other important issues for the youth of all the Swazi Baptist churches. Pray for the committee to be in unity and one mind on ALL decisions.

Hunter and Brinkley Johnson (sisters) will arrive in Swaziland June 9-July 8 to minister with the Swazi Team leading children/youth Bible studies, partnering with other mission organizations and various ministry opportunities as well as leading the National Youth Leader’s Retreat on June 25-27. Pray for Hunter and Brinkley as they prepare to serve with the Swazi Team and for health and safety as they travel on June 8 to Swaziland for one month.
--Begin praying for the National Youth Leader’s Retreat (June 25-27 with Hunter Johnson leading) as well as our youth leaders and vice-youth leaders of the Swazi Baptist churches. Pray for all the logistics to be finalized and for God to move in a mighty way among the hearts of our youth leaders.

GOD IS MOVING AMONG THE DEAF IN SWAZILAND!!
Frank and Sheri Moran missionaries to the deaf in South Africa (and beyond) had a great opportunity to meet two Deaf leaders in Swaziland during the South African Deaf Christian Camp March 20-23. These leaders shared with Frank and Sheri that presently 8 groups are gathering to worship. The Morans were invited to come and help with the Deaf Christian Conference/Camp in October near Mbabane (Swaziland). Please lift the Swaziland Deaf and their leaders in your prayers. Pray the Morans will be prepared to share God’s Word with them, and God’s work will expand.

-Continue to pray for Lisa Warren’s father as he recovers from surgery and stroke. He is presently taking physical therapy.

***Last year a young man appeared at our gate with questions. He had been working for the Muslims in town but he had quit. When he was leaving his employers told him since he had quit his job with them he would die. He came to ask Wayne if this was true. I have a great concern with the Muslim influence that is becoming stronger in Nhlangano, a small “bush” town of approximately 4,000. More and more of the small businesses are being operated by the Indian Muslims who come from South Africa. Last year a Mosque was built and indication has been given that Swazis are helped with school fees and given jobs if they convert to the Muslim faith (such as the young man at the gate). For so many Swazis who have no one to help them with schooling or financially, the choice is an easy one. Pray for Swazis living in poverty who are being easily misled by financial assistance if they convert to the Muslim faith. Pray for a stronger and bolder witness of the believers in Nhlangano.

PRAY FOR THE FOLLOWING IMB EVENTS:
-Field Personnel Orientation, April 20 through June 18
-IMB Board of Trustee Meeting in Denver, Colorado, May 18-20
-Missionary Appointment Service in Denver, Colorado, May 20
May our heavenly Father abundantly bless the leaders and participants of each of these events. May His light invade the darkness as His messengers are equipped and enter into the battle.
